According to Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., “Change
is coming to America.”
With Obama, Hillary
Rodham Clinton and John Sidney McCain III as the
leading candidates for the Presidency, that would seem to be an accurate
prediction.
And that’s scary.
Change is coming to America? Sounds like the only change they’re talking about is the spare
change you’ll have left in your pocket after they’re through with you.
More government tax and spend programs, more bureaucracy,
more usurpation of our freedoms – doesn’t sound like much of a change from what
we have now.
Even our current energy crisis is a direct result of
government bureaucracy interfering in the natural law of supply and
demand. “Green” laws have made
development of new energy sources all but impossible in America. All three of
these candidates have bought into the whole “global warming” scam, and are
proposing even more government bureaucracy for our energy industry.
These three candidates are just about the least qualified
people we could pick to lead our great nation, a nation founded on the
principles of self-determination and Liberty.
Our founding documents were designed to limit the scope and
power of our government, to secure our God-given rights, and to allow each
citizen the freedom to determine for themselves the path to happiness they will
pursue in life.
Recall this passage from the Declaration
of Independence:
“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are
created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain
unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness; That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men,
deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed….”
None of these three candidates is a champion of
Liberty. Their records are replete with
evidence of their love of government power and control of our lives.
They are all a direct threat to Liberty, yours as well as
mine.
Whether it be Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.’s
liberal Senate voting record (he is the most liberal United States
Senator) or his “community organizing” in Chicago, or whether it be Hillary
Rodham Clinton’s failed attempts to socialize our health-care industry, or her
misappropriation of FBI files (and that was before the Patriot Act), or
whether it be John Sidney McCain III’s
unconstitutional shackling of the First Amendment with McCain-Feingold, or his
“poor judgment” with the Keating 5
savings & loan scandal, or whether it be any number of other
circumstances surrounding these three candidates, they are all a direct threat
to Liberty.
I fear for the future of America if any of these three
become our next President. And if they
have a Congress that is willing to go along with their myriad of Big Brother
government schemes, our Land of the Free will be transformed into a land of the
government.
According to Congressman
Paul Ryan (WI-01), 18% of every dollar produced in America’s private sector
goes to pay for our government. That
means out of every dollar you ever make in your lifetime, 18 cents goes to the
government. And that figure is expected
to rise to 40% within the next generation.
All three of these candidates are proposing new government
“programs” to address some perceived problem facing America. None of them realize, as Ronald Reagan did,
that government itself is the biggest problem we all face.
The Declaration of Independence tells us “whenever
any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of
the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying
its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as
to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
In other words, we get the government we choose.
Are we still a country that values self-determination and
Liberty? Or have we lost our backbone,
our fighting spirit, and our independence?
America faces great challenges. But we’ve always been able and willing to meet such challenges
head-on. We’ve always triumphed in the
face of adversity, rising to meet any challenge, foreign or domestic. Not because of our government, but in spite
of it.
If we really, truly want to change America, if we want to
change our course from a bloated bureaucratic government-regulated society, if
we want to return to the nation envisioned by our forefathers, a nation of free
people, a nation of limited government, then we must make better choices when
exercising our right to vote. Voting
for the lesser of bad candidates is no longer a viable option.
As the Templar Knight in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” advised,
“You must choose wisely.”
America’s future is in our hands.
