The
Best America Has To Offer?
by Kerry Thomas
July 3, 2007
At a July 2 Democrat campaign rally in Iowa, impeached
former President Bill Clinton was once again trotted out to introduce the next
speaker. According to Clinton, he was
introducing “…the best America has to offer.”
As I watched the news report of the event, and being mindful
that this was, after all, a Democrat event, I almost half expected the next
speaker to be someone like Bill Gates.
Maybe Warren Buffet. Or Steve
Jobs. It might have been a Hollywood
icon, like Paul Newman or Robert Redford.
Maybe even Oprah.
But, alas, no. Good
ol’ Bill mentioned something about being with this person for 35 years. So, obviously, it couldn’t have been…no…are
you serious…Hillary?
Hillary Rodham Clinton is the best America has to
offer? Sure. And I got this little bridge in New York I can let you have,
cheap.
Maybe Hillary Rodham Clinton is the best the Democrats have
to offer. That right there should tell
you something about the Democrats. Style
over substance. Promise you the sky,
deliver nothing but hot air.
The last time Hillary Rodham Clinton accomplished anything
on her own it was as an attorney who managed to get assigned to the Watergate
investigation.
All of the things Hillary Rodham Clinton trumpets about
herself are the result of working with someone else. Marriage? Have to share
the credit with Bill. Motherhood? Same story.
First Lady? Credit Bill. Elected to the Senate? Would she really have been elected if she
had not been First Lady? Member of the
Senate? It’s a body of 100. No one single Senator can claim credit for
much.
And her record in the Senate has been somewhat less than
stellar. In her now six and a half
years in the Senate, she can’t point to a single piece of legislation that has
become law of which she has been the lead sponsor/author.
But she cares about children. So? Who doesn’t?
But shouldn’t we appreciate the fact that she’s a woman,
running for the Presidency? I thought
we were supposed to be above mere sexism.
I thought we were supposed to judge people on their professionalism, not
their gender.
The fact the Bill Clinton was elected America’s President
twice still makes me feel dirty. Not
because I voted for him (I didn’t), but because his antics in the Oval Office
were so beneath what the face of America should reflect.
The Clintons are poster children for the Redneck neuvo-rich. No, wait, I’m sorry. That’s an insult to Rednecks. Let me put it another way. When you’re President, and you have an
affair, you can get Marilyn Monroe. You
don’t have to settle for Monica Lewinski.
We’ve seen what Hillary Rodham Clinton did in the White
House. We’ve seen her failed attempts
to socialize our medical industry.
We’ve seen how FBI files mysteriously show up in her office. We’ve heard what she now wants to do with a
business’s profits. “I’d take that
money and….”
I have a news flash for Hillary Rodham Clinton. When a business makes a profit, that money
belongs to the stockholders, not her, not the government. The stockholders are the ones who took the
risk and invested in the business. They
are the ones who are entitled to reap the rewards.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is not the best America has to
offer. The Socialist model is not what
America was designed to follow. Marx
was a hero to the Soviets, not to Americans.
America holds the promise of Liberty for all, a Freedom which allows
each and every one of us to be the best we can be.
In the words of Ronald Reagan, “America is
too great to dream small dreams.”
The best America has to offer are found in the ranks of our
military. They’re found behind the
counters of our local stores and diners.
They’re found patrolling our streets, battling fires, saving lives,
rescuing lost children, caring for the sick and elderly. America’s best can be found in every city
and town, in every neighborhood.
America can do much better than Hillary Rodham Clinton.
